ICONICS Announces Partnering Agreement With ISA Automation

ISA Automation in Rouyn-Noranda, Canada, is a software tool development company that is focusing its products on HMI environments. Founded in 1998, ISA developed a software product called Only U. The Only U solution was designed in response to the fact that "user accountability" was a difficult issue to address in manufacturing plant floor operations. Conventional user names and passwords are often misused, written on scraps of paper near the operator input terminal for sharing between users, and have become unacceptable in critical applications where absolute user identification is required. Only U uses fingerprint identification technology that makes it possible to accurately and instantly identify a user within an application at the time of data entry, using a Biometric reading mouse.

In integrating the Only U solution with ICONICS' GraphWorX™32 OPC-based HMI visualization software, ICONICS and ISA Automation believe that they are pushing user accountability to a higher level. This technology also addresses the strict regulations imposed by the FDA, namely 21 CFR Part 11 compliance for the pharmaceutical and food and beverage industries, for electronic document control and electronic signatures on documents.
