De Keizer Marine Engineering

Uitgeest, Netherlands

De Keizer Marine Engineering, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a global company of highly trained technology experts for super yachts.

Challenges

  • Easy configuration - Needed automation software that was simple to configure and use for yacht integration systems
  • Security & safety - Required highly secure AMS/AMCS meeting insurance specs to ensure personnel safety on vessels
  • Advanced visualization - Needed HTML5 compliant software with 3D visualization and intuitive dashboards for technicians

Results

  • Faster project delivery - Object-oriented platform allows team collaboration and quick programming delivery for projects
  • Comprehensive safety management - Achieved highest level alarm/control for bilge, stability, tank, fire, and refrigeration systems
  • Improved efficiency - Automated information/file generation reduces work hours and improves dashboard creation capabilities

At the moment, we are delivering our third project of the New DekaSIs.iQ which is built on Mitsubishi Electric PLCs and controlled via the GENESIS software. Due to the object-oriented nature of the platform and the possibility to automate the configuration and import data, we can easily work with a team of engineers on the project and deliver programming quite quickly.

Project Summary

De Keizer Marine Engineering was looking for an automation software they could use for yacht integration systems. In particular, the software needed to:

  • Be easy to configure and use
  • Be highly responsive and fast with advanced monitoring and control
  • Be capable of providing alarm and power management
  • Be native HTML5 compliant and supportive for 3D visualization

Additionally with this software, the Alarm Monitoring System (AMS) or Alarm Monitoring and Control System (AMCS) needed to be highly secure and meet insurance specifications to ensure the safety of all personnel on any vessel.

The interface also needed to have the most advanced technology with modern impressive visualization capabilities and easy to understand intuitive dashboards. These capabilities are essential for ship technicians to work more efficiently. Operators also wanted more possibilities for mobile integration to be able to visualize from anywhere on the vessel.

As an Enrolled Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions (MEIDS) system integrator, it was logical for De Keizer to choose GENESIS automation software. However, they work with our software because it is extremely easy and fast to configure and has the advanced capabilities the company needs for their projects. Furthermore, they know they can stress GENESIS to its limits on redundancy and alarm handling. Lastly, our software is highly scalable, so they can use the software in all their super yacht applications.

Realized Benefits

De Keizer has realized and continues to realize many significant benefits using GENESIS software. The software allows for extensive integration with the utmost advanced technology. For instance, GENESIS allows for easy and multiple module designs. In addition, the team can design impressive and comprehensive dashboards and generate CSV files based on an I/O list.

This capability results in improved information access and file generation that also improves the efficiency with which the work can be accomplished. As an example, the De Keizer team can automate information and file generation and thereby reduce the number of work hours on each project.

Most importantly, the software provides the highest level of alarm and control management to ensure ship safety through onboard system visualizing and alarming capabilities for bilge, stability, tank, fire, and refrigeration/freezer alarm. Another benefit is that GENESIS seamlessly integrates with Mitsubishi Electric hardware which De Keizer uses for all their systems.

Conclusion

De Keizer Marine Engineering uses GENESIS automation software to design highly advanced customized integration systems for super yachts. Currently, they are interested in smart trending so plan to use Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions’ Quality AnalytiX tool to enable technicians to view data/parameters that impact vessel operation and safety.

They are also looking into using our energy management tools to optimize systems like HVAC and powerplant, and additional Mitsubishi Electric Iconics Digital Solutions tools for development and upscaling. Finally, they look forward to the next generation of GENESIS software for more powerful and advanced features and capabilities.
